The other Angel tape reviewed here, "Tower of Power", is decidedly hotter in sex but has a rather inane plot. Still, Annette Haven and Angel in the same flick! (though unfortunately not in the same scene). McCallum directs, and does it in his usual competent way. Angel is in two scenes (with John Leslie and R. Bolla) and Annette in only one b-g with Herschel Savage. Overall it is a worthwhile rental but again one wonders what might have been.
Prime material for girlfriends: no g-g scenes, and if your SO doesn't find a couples scene with Annette inspiring, you might need to check her pulse :-). That woman is incredible; I have seen so many movies with her but she never ceases to amaze me with her talents. Her movements are pure choreography. Some women are living, walking works of art and we have been very fortunate to capture one such lady's more intimate moments on film.
After an Annette scene I find it impossible to watch modern crap; I can't even watch Angelica Bella, and that says a lot!

Starring: R. Bolla is the head of some ill-defined corporation where one of his top executives-- John Leslie, Annette Haven, and Harry Reems, among them-- is suspected of giving the competition their secret plans to take over a rival. The cast is from porn's top deck, and includes the strikingly pretty Angel, as Leslie's wife, the underrated Janey Robbins as Bolla's sex-starved Mrs. , and Herschel Savage as Annette Haven's boyfriend and Robbins' baby brother.
As always, Robert McCallum directs with a sure-hand and his focus on the characters' emotions, sexual desires, and moods ring with truth. He's arguably one of the most unappreciated filmmakers from porn's Golden Age. But his story here is a loser.
Watch Annette's twitchy reaction to Savage giving head. McCallum captures not only captures her slinky beauty but honest reactions. Angel, though more limited as an actress, brings the same realistic ease to her couplings. Her hump with Leslie has the same playful touches as any married couple still fully engaged. Only when McCallum delves into the darker side of these relationships do the sex scenes grow strained.
The actors give performances worthy of the prme time soap operas this film is clearing imitating.
But the plot is listless. You won't care about who stole the secrets. In fact, I don't think McCallum did. The non-sex scenes are slack and undeveloped.
A 7. Even when McCallum is not up to par his work remains interesting and watchable.
