Debussy, Spohr and Dvorak Movie

Debussy, Spohr and Dvorak Description: "Swiss clarinet player Curzio Petraglio, born in Ticino, started to take clarinet lessons at the age of nine. Later on he studied at the Lausanne Conservatory with Robert Kemblinski. In 1986 he took his degree and in 1988 he was awarded a First Prize with distinction. That same year he received the "Migros Cultural Award". 1989 he became laureate of the Wind Instrument Competition organized by the Swiss Musicians' Society. In 1993 he was awarded First Prize of the UBS Competition for Young Musicians. After a successful Japan tour in 1999, Curzio Petraglio became a member of the Lausanne Chamber Orchestra in 2000, a post he is holding until today.

"Peter Maag was born in Switzerland in 1919. His natural musical aptitude was quickly recognized, and his musical studies were carried out in Zurich. At the universities of Basel, Zurich and Geneva he studied theology and philosophy, an experience that was to lead him in unconventional directions in later life. Maag moved on to work as assistant to Wilhelm Furtwängler. There came a meeting with Ernest Ansermet, who invited Maag to work as his assistant. In the 1970s, Peter Maag astonished the musical world by disappearing for two years into a Tibetan monastery. His explanation for this is revealing of the man: "I was having too much success. Those two years spent meditating and praying in a small cell purified my soul." He died in 2001, just days before his 82nd birthday."
